Hey Guy, Paul Ryan comes out in support of gay adoption

Former vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan said Monday he supports the right of gay couples to adopt children, a reversal of his position on the issue.

"Adoption, I would vote differently these days," the conservative Wisconsin congressman said at a town hall meeting in his hometown of Janesville, Wis., according to ThinkProgress.

"That was I think a vote I took in my first term, in 1999 or 2000. I do believe that if there are children who are orphans who do not have a loving person or couple, you know, I think if a person wants to love and raise a child they ought to be able to do that. Period. I would vote that way,” he said.

In 1999, Ryan voted for a bill that banned same-sex couples in Washington, D.C., from adopting children.

But on Monday, Ryan still doubled down on his stance against legalizing same-sex marriage, saying that he believes “marriage is between a man and a woman.”

A bid for the presidency.

It will be interesting to see if Bp. Morlino offers a correction.

Delusional indeed. The GOP will not get another vote or $ from me. Of course Demosexuals No. None. Never.

Inversely, even in foreign (mostly western European) countries where polls show majority support for gay marriage, those same polls almost always show majority opposition to gay adoption.

Last anon, great point! The whole thing is that perhaps there is room to allow something like a civil union if it in fact did NOT allow for adoption. So this comment is somewhat bizarre by the fact that he is assuming that homosexuals should not be in a lifelong committed relationship like heterosexuals in marriage but that this would be a good place for raising children.

Think Paulie will obtain T. Card. Dolan's blessing on that little move?

Think T. Card. Dolan will be fool enough to be used again as a foil for Paulie?

What would Paulie's MOM think about this?

Goes to show the only thing that changes in Washington is the politicians elected to change it.
