La Crosse Cathedral Gallery singers performed GK Chesterton poem

I missed the La Crosse Cathedral's recent choral concert, but a friend mentioned a familiar man's words in one of the pieces.

“The Christ-child lay on Mary’s Lap” performed by the Cathedral Gallery Singers on January 4, 2011.

The Christ-child Lay on Mary’s Lap
The Christ-child lay on Mary’s lap
His hair was like a light.
(O weary, weary were the world,
But here is aright.)
The Christ-child lay on Mary’s breast,
His hair was like a star.
(O stern and cunning are the kings,
But here the true hearts are.)

The Christ-child lay on Mary’s heart,
His hair was like a fire.
(O weary, weary is the world,
But he the world’s desire.)

The Christ-child stood at Mary’s knee,
His hair was like a crown,
And all the flowers looked up at him,
And all the stars looked down.
 ─ G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936)

Music composed by Colin Mawby (b. 1936)

is it recorded anywhere? I'd love to hear a copy.

Unfortunately I don't think it was recorded. If I do hear of anyone I'll post it.

NOte how the last stanza places Christ at the center of the universe AND 'next to Mary.'
