LAXTrib: ‘Ladies for Life' Tea is June 12

The second annual "Ladies for Life" Tea will be Sunday, June 12, and feature keynote speaker Lisa Sommers from Rachel's Vineyard, a pro-life ministry in Stevens Point, Wis., that provides post-abortive healing and support services.

The event is set to begin at 2 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall, 130 Losey Blvd., and will include tea sandwiches, sweet, a silent auction, live local music, door prizes, a formal table-setting competition and an activity corner with crafts.

Tickets cost $10 for ages 10 and older, $5 for children younger than 10 and free for babes in arms. They are available at La Crosse area Catholic churches or by calling Elizabeth Garibaldi at (608) 769-4014. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Rachel's Vineyard.

The tea is organized by members of the local

40 Days for Life chapter, who organize anti-abortion prayer vigils and rallies throughout the year. Most recently, the group coordinated its first local "40 Hours for Life" prayer vigil on March 25-27 in conjunction with the International 40 Days for Life Campaign.

It began with a Eucharistic procession and Divine Mercy Chaplet and continued with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. James the Less Church and continuous prayer presence outside of Options Clinic. More than 175 people from throughout the La Crosse Diocese participated, organizers said.
