Priest to walk 168 miles from Round Lake, IL to Robinsonville Shrine

ROUND LAKE – A Round Lake priest has found a way to make a spiritual pilgrimage and help defray his parish debt at the same time.

The Rev. Tim O’Malley, a priest at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Round Lake for the last four years, will embark on a 168-mile walk Sunday, June 12, to the Chapel of the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Green Bay, Wis.

Eight other parishioners and acquaintances will join him on the trip, which O’Malley said is first and foremost meant to be a prayerful journey.

“I’m looking forward to undertaking a pilgrimage,” OMalley said. “It’s more spiritual. It’s not quite a retreat, where you go spend a week and people help you pray and have wonderful conversations with God.”
