He did a good job of protecting Archbishop Weakland during the years that the bad people of Milwaukee said horrible things about him. He stopped many a letter of complaint from getting to the Pope. He also saw to it that Weakland's legacy continues in Milwaukee. He has been justly rewarded.

Another Cardinal from Milwaukee and yet none have ever been our Archbishop. If places like Baltimore, Saint Louis, Pittsburgh can have Cardinal-Archbishops, then what's wrong with Milwaukee? Cardinal Muench, Cardinal Stritch, Cardinal Meyer, Cardinal Dolan, and now Cardinal Harvey were all either from Milwaukee or the Archbishops of this Diocese, but not one of them remained here as a Cardinal. A grave oversight by the Vatican. Dominic Joseph Radanovich, a Byzantine Melkite Catholic.
