Christmas at Good Help Shrine

(Champion, Wis.) – The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help is ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ this Christmas and has announced the Mass schedule and other holiday activities. Dates and times include:

• The Novena for the Nativity of Our Lord, Monday, Dec. 17 – Tuesday, Dec. 25. The nine days leading up to Christmas Day, daily prayers will be emailed to participants to reflect on the birth of Jesus. To sign-up, visit the Shrine’s website, click on “Prayer & Novenas” on the left-hand column of the home page. Click on the “Novenas” tab, and a “Pray with Us” note will pop up.
• Midnight Mass, Monday, Dec. 24 with group rosary beginning at 11:30 p.m.
• Christmas Day Masses, Tuesday, Dec. 25 at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. with rosary at 10:30 a.m.

Midnight Mass is a traditional Catholic Christmas Service that is no longer typically held at midnight. Many Christians around the world enjoy Midnight Mass because, according to the Nativity narrative in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus was born at nighttime and recognizes the traditions of the church. There will also be two Feast Day Masses for the Solemnity of the Nativity of our Lord on Christmas Day.
