Installation Mass Broadcast Live
On January 4, 2010, Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki will be installed as the 11th Archbishop of Milwaukee at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee. Television coverage of the ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. CST with the procession of con-celebrants. The Mass will begin at 2 p.m.

Looks like alot of news outlets are picking up on this. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has more on the attendees. Most noteable I think is Archbishop Emeritus Weakland. For a man who may bankrupt the archdiocese, it seemed interesting he would be attending. Also some nice pictures from Sunday in a hideous cathedral.

Intersting: Bp Listecki picked the hymns sung at the Vespers service last night. Notable because they are sturdy, solid hymns, not the usual flibbertigibbet stuff.
Today's Mass is also devoid of musical garbage (by and large)....Of course, launching a "real Catholic music" initiative here may take a good deal of effort. Let's hope the new Abp. has the energy.
Oh my, not sure if you got to hear it Dad29, but do you remember the Papal Mass at Washington stadium in 2008? Bad news.
Yah, it was awful. The ceremony here was MUCH better, musically--that is to say, it was not as loaded with crap as was the DC event.
Yes, the DC jazz festival was certainly worse. Did you like the "multicultural celebration" style? If the readings will be in several languages, I would prefer to hear them all in Latin, the univeral language of the Church, and everyone is at an equal "disadvantage" so to speak. I thought most of the music was done well. Didn't like adding piano to the intercessions.
Unnhh....so long as the readings (etc.) are all available in booklets w/English translations, I'm comfy w/lotsa other languages. Vat II did authorize them, sensibly.
How-some-ever: Latin should used a lot more for the Ordinary parts of the Mass and the Canon.
And the piano is simply silly. There's a million bucks worth of pipe-organ in the Cathedral.
