Egads...

We were married there. Her mother lived literally across the street from the church, which is a story...

We had arranged for a friend from Milwaukee to serve as the chauffer for our wedding. He owned a limo, and was VERY happy to help.

Except that the night before the wedding he was arrested and jailed for DUI. Natch, he was not able to tell US that--he was in jail.

So she and her Mom and party walked to the church. It was quite a sight.

Night before the wedding, the LOW temperature was 85 degrees. Big Day temps in the mid-90's. One choir member fainted during the Mass, another got hit with kidney stones during the reception...

Three priests concelebrated the wedding. The pastor of the church grabbed the wrong Missal on his way out of the sacristy; fortunately, MY pastor/employer caught the error or it would have been a REQUIEM Mass.

Sheesh...

ROFLOL! REQUIEM! Talk about disasters, well not a total disaster as I take it you tied the knot and lived happily ever after.

I got married during the big flood three years ago. It rained over 12 inches that day in La Crosse. Some that stayed for the reception were stranded. An aunt tried driving through a flooded street and totaled her car. It was wet.

I hope your mother in law is safe and they get that taken care of. Will be interesting to see what the story is here.

TWELVE INCHES!

That floated your boat, eh?

My M-I-L is quite safe, oremus, in the arms of Christ, having died 15 years ago or so.

You'll have to inquire of She Who Must Be Obeyed as to 'lasting happiness.' I am not authorized to speak on the issue.

A sister that worked at the Shrine told us Arbp. Burke had said it was an Irish blessing to have it rain on one's wedding day...

May M-I-L resquiescat in pacem.

Hahaha, enjoy this from GK:
"I have little doubt that when St. George had killed the dragon he was heartily afraid of the princess."
