I got some more information(aka, next weeks bulletin). The Cathedral parish in La Crosse will be observing the vigil.
Next weekend we begin a new liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent. Pope Benedict XVI is calling for a Vigil for All Nascent Human Life to be observed on Saturday evening, November 27. “Nascent” means “embryonic, growing, being born.” During Advent we recall the period when Jesus was nascent. We will observe this vigil after the 5:10 Mass next Saturday evening with a Marian Procession, Rosary and Benediction. Please come and join us.
An interesting observation is that the next line says this:
Bishop William Callahan will celebrate the 10:30 Mass with us next Sunday morning, November 28. This is another good way to start the new liturgical year.
So maybe he's flying in that morning? I don't know. I do know that with Archbishop Burke's elevation, it's got everybody around here out of whack since most are going to be traveling there. It might be that Bishop Callahan does not know at this point if he will be back in time for the vigil and doesn't want to mislead if he really cannot make it back. The diocesan pilgrimage returns from Rome on November 24th so it is certainly reasonable that he has things to attend to in The Eternal City and he thinks his availability is still in question.
