Wisconsin Right to Life opposes Personhood!!

Dude, what is up with WRTL??
What's the deal with Personhood?
When the term “Person” is granted to a human being, it refers to the presence of a particular set of characteristics that grant that individual certain rights such as the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In other words, to be a person is to be protected by a series of God given and constitutionally protected rights.

This terrifies the pro-abortion foes!!!

They know that if we clearly define the pre-born baby as a person then they will have the same right to life as all Americans do! This Amendment has the promise plugging the “Blackmun Hole,” a startling admission that if personhood could be established for the pre-born, the arguments in Roe would collapse.

Justice Harry Blackmun wrote in the majority opinion for Roe v. Wade in 1973, “The appellee and certain amici [pro-lifers] argue that the fetus is a ‘person’ within the language and meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment. In support of this, they outline at length and in detail the well-known facts of fetal development. If this suggestion of personhood is established, the appellant’s case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life would then be guaranteed specifically by the Amendment.
On February 15th Wisconsin Right to Life held their 2011 Legislative Conference in Madison.  WRTL announced there public stance to actively oppose any attempt at a personhood amendment in Wisconsin.  They brought in Clarke Forsythe from Americans United for Life to support their decision.

I will pass on more details on once I get them in.  This Weakland-founded dinosaur seems to be crumbling at it's foundation.

WHO ARE "We the People" ?

The "Purpose Statement" of America is the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence.

The PURPOSE and INTENT of the American Independence Movement was to "...form a more perfect UNION..." and "...secure the blessings of Liberty.." for "...ourSELVES..." AND "...for our POSTERITY..."

The Founders did not intend for the American Dream to be just for THEIR generation only, but for ALL generations to come.

This includes ALL those to be conceived, and those now conceived but not yet born.

It was a solemn vow made to future generations that their RIGHT to the blessings of Liberty, enumerated in the Constitution, could NOT be abridged or abrogated by any act of either of the three branches of government.

The INTENT and PURPOSE of the separation of powers was to PROTECT those FUTURE generations from being DENIED the "Blessings of Liberty" BY the GOVERNMENTAL POWERS so established.

And thus was a BOND of UNITY established by the FOUNDERS with the FUTURE GENERATIONS of Americans. Any person or group that DENIES these RIGHTS exists has already given up the fight to maintain UNITY with its own generation and generations to come, and has broken the bond of Unity with the Founders.

SOLIDARITY in UNITY ! WHO ARE "WE the People"?!

Did you read their reasoning? I urge you to read their legislative analysis
http://www.wrtl.org/pdf/2011%20Legislative%20Analysis%20Personhood%20%20%20011911.pdf

From my understanding WRTL is NOT against the personhood amendment itself but the enactment of it in our state. This is because we have an abortion ban in our state law. If this amendment were passed it would unnecessarily hurt our current laws. Because the wording of the two do not match, if Roe V Wade were overturned it would leave our abortion ban unconstitutional and therefore would be challenged by Planned Parenthood and the like. Then it would be over turned and we would have to count on having all the right people in place at that time to try and redo what was undone by this amendment. IT is great in places without abortion bans but it would do more harm then good here, and I am all for saving babies not putting more at unnecessary risk. Besides the justices in the Supreme court, even the good ones, have voted against this 19 times, because they feel it has no constitutional bearing.
