"I might have to pay for my birth control!" - UW's finest

PP WI protesters
Planned Parenthood and NARAL had about 100-120 people at their rally in Madison last weekend, along with a police escort (seriously, is that necessary, in Madison?) and they marched down State Street to the square. All of the cross streets were blocked off with squad cars to allow the Planned Parenthood march to proceed uninterrupted (again, necessary?) Interestingly, most of the Planned Parenthood rally people had union signs, meaning they just walked down from the union protests around the square.

I went in a coffee shop on State Street afterwards and this college chick and her boyfriend were in line in front of me. They were talking about Walker’s budget and the Planned Parenthood funding. The girl said, “I might have to pay for my birth control!” and the boy said, “And I would have to pay for my STD testing!” Gross, gross, gross… And yes, the point is that if you want birth control that badly, you should pay for it, not the rest of the taxpayers.

And later this lovely couple said, “But they’re still funding transportation! How are roads more important than our birth control?” I thought, dear Lord, this is the future…
I just puked in the back of my mouth...

I am going to go ahead and place "I would have to pay for my STD testing" at the very top of my Greatest Pickup Lines of All Time list.

Could you post where this article came from? I would like to read the rest of it. Thanks! Incredible that we've gotten to this point where irresponsible, recreational, enabling services and devices are just expected. The sense of entiltlement makes me ill.

That's gotta be submitted to Hallmark!

OK. So we don't have any way of verifying this story then?

If there was a name of a person that would verify that this conversation actually took place I would pass this link on to others.

I'll let the listener comment if they want to reveal their identity...(you do realize you asked for this while posting only your first name, right?) We can look in the Badger Herald and can find basically the same thing said in paper. If you are looking for a quote for press, email me.

I think "Hey - I'll pay for your STD testing" would be a far better pick-up line. Or "All you need to know, babe, is that I earn enough not only to pay for my own birth control, but yours as well."

Ugh - can't believe I actually typed those...

Steve, there's a way of verifying not only who said it but also where it came from if you bothered to look for it. I found it within five seconds using this thing called the interwebs :)

These kinds of comments are pretty common, actually, amid the same culture that produces the EC adverts you reference in your next post, BC. I'm a badger grad and I've heard far more stupefying comments than these.
