Ecumenical Tenebrae in Brookfield

Tenebrae
St John Vianney's in Brookfield held a Tenebrae service with a Lutheran congregation.

I don't know about you but I'm okay with it.  I mean I probably wouldn't attend, but it's a traditional prayer service that Protestants wouldn't otherwise be exposed to.  And it is taking place in a Catholic church.  Aaaand, since there is no Mass or anything like that it makes me less worried about hijinx.

An interesting note about the Tenebrae is that Office of Tenebrae was abandoned in 1977 in the Liturgy of the Hours(it existed in the Roman Breviary).  There is something similar in the LOTH but it doesn't involve putting out candles.  So I'm sure it was a beautiful liturgy sung in Latin with the priest dressed in traditional cassock.

I'm sure the priest of the archdiocese wouldn't use the Protestant version of a Catholic liturgy in a Catholic church, right?  Common sense would tell me he used either the short modern version(with no candles) or the Traditional Catholic version.

It's Brookfield, not Brooksfield.

In Madison, it was a bueatiful service with several priests, 2 deacons and a Canon in attendance, along with most of the seminiarians. We got off to a rocky start, but we pulled it together shortly. :)

LauraZim also did a good job as cantor...
