Prairie du Sac nuns praying for both candidates, ballot rejection "honest mistake"

PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. -- The Board of Canvassers of Sauk County has decided 18 votes from nuns at Valley of Our Lady Monastery in Prairie du Sac will not be counted in the recount for Wisconsin Supreme Court.

The nuns had voted by absentee ballot, but the problem is the ballots weren't signed by a witness as is required by state law.

The monastery calls this oversight an honest mistake.

Sister Aleydis said they weren't aware of the voting protocols, even though they've always voted absentee. She adds they will be praying for a resolution and for both candidates for Supreme Court justice.Fourteen of the votes were for Justice David Prosser; four for challenger Joanne Kloppenburg.Prosser's campaign has filed several objections to having these votes thrown out. Kloppenburg's campaign hasn't.
