La Crosse's new Vicar General, and few notes

The Very Reverend Michael J. Gorman is appointed Vicar General, effective July 1, 2011.
Originally all that was posted was that he was Moderator of the Curia, which is usually the Vicar General.  Someone told me ya gotsa be a monsignor to hold the position...  so maybe Fr. G will be getting that as well.
The Reverend Monsignor Richard W. Gilles, Pastor of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Parish at Tomah and St. Andrew Parish at Warrens, is relieved of his responsibilities as Vicar General, effective July 1, 2011.
Also Cardinal Burke will be making an appearance at the La Crosse Catechetical Conference.
LA CROSSE – On July 29- 30 the Diocese of La Crosse’s Catechetical Conference “Transforming Hearts to Christ … Both Mine and Others” will be offered in La Crosse at Aquinas High School. Bishop William Patrick Callahan, OFM Conv., will be the featured speaker. He will be joined by Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke; Christopher Carstens, director of the Office of Sacred Worship for the Diocese of La Crosse; and Father Douglas Martis, a priest of the Diocese of Joliet, Ill., and director of the Liturgical Institute[at a catechetical conference] at Mundelein Seminary in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
I'd link back to The Catholic Times but all they make available is one pdf of their whole newspaper and it is only the current issue.  The link wouldn't work after their next issue is released.  *sigh*  On the bright side Joseph O'Brien wrote a nice review of Jobs of Our Own which I wanted to post but I didn't get it up in time, before the next issue.  Well, sort of on the bright side I guess.  They have some great writers, just not the resources to have their work more widely read.  But I digress.

Also, Casa Hogar celebrates 25 years.
La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - Casa Hogar, an orphanage started in Peru through the Diocese of La Crosse, celebrates 25 years this year.

The orphanage takes care of 64 kids there.

A decade ago, the orphanage changed its structure to what's called the Boys Town Model.

There, children are split into households instead of one large orphanage in order to learn the family structure.

Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk, director of Casa Hogar said, "We don't have foster care in Peru at all, so the orphanages are the only way to do it."

90% of Casa Hogar's donations come from Wisconsin.
