Precidence for priest tranfers

In his book 'Dusk Is My Dawn' Fr. Gerald Fisher mentioned that in the summer of 1952, Bishop John Treacy had 72 priests transfered which remains the record[for La Crosse]. See pg. 146-147. Fr. Fisher mentioned that one priest came back from vacation only to find his replacement had taken over. Also plans for a new cathedral was in the works when Bishop Alexander McGavick was the bishop. However, Bishop Treacy felt the seminary was more important then the new cathedral and had Holy Cross Seminary built first. See pg. 132. It was not until 1959-1962 the new Cathedral was built.
I have a hunch there were many more priests with the diocese at that time.
