Stanek poll: Is contraception a pro-life issue?

I'm not sure whether to be encouraged or discouraged....

I would be encouraged. It seems like the majority of "Nos" come from one little area on the eastern seaboard and a few in Europe. The rest of us see the connection, which is good. Granted, a lot of work on catechesis needs to be done by the bishops and a lot of grace needs to be poured out in the places that said "no."

The saddest part of the poll is the comments on Jill Stanek's site. I spent a few minutes reading them, getting horribly depressed by some rather disgustingly rude opinions and people's unwillingness to see past their own desires to the larger story in play. Then I reminded myself the world is not occupied solely by trolls, and I became happy again.

ROFL!

Also, Kat, there are certain pro-abortion groups (Planned Parenthood, NARAL, etc) who do not want pro-lifers to tackle contraception, for the obvious reasons; as well as certain right-to-life groups who shudder away from the topic. Both of the above have a vested interest in the results of the poll. I wouldn't doubt if the whole PPFA office takes part in the Stanek poll.

It's happened too many times for us to ignore it. People going ballistic over rather petty anti-contraception statements.

When are pro-lifers, and Catholics especially, going to see how obvious the enemy is making his soft-spot?

If we are in a culture war, then winning tactics will be similar to any other fight. Whenever you're in a fight and your oponent howls in pain when you hit him YOU BETTER KEEP HITTING HIM IN THAT SPOT.

Nothing elicits such outrageous responses as opposing contraception. Forget the war on abortion - start opposing contraception and abortion will go away.
