Where's a communal interdict when you need one?

According to the Pew Forum, 45 percent of Catholics in the U.S. believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases, compared with 40 percent of the overall population. Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, evangelicals and Protestants from historically black congregations are the religious groups with the greatest opposition to abortion.

I see that 45%, and I see a lot of Catholics who have either had abortions, or helped to procure one. To admit that abortion should be illegal in all or most cases would be for them to admit they are wrong, and sadly, many in the Church have been taught that following one's conscience means they can never be wrong.

For the laity's part - prayer and fasting.

Agreed... if you read about the latest Planned Parenthood defector (http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/exclusive-the-planned-parenthood-manager-who-wanted-to-be-a-nun) she was a practicing Catholic while working there. Lots of work to be done still.
