Sheboygan School Board to discuss new charter school

A group of parents is pitching a new charter school idea to the Sheboygan School Board in hopes of keeping its current school together.

Representatives from the Sheboygan Leadership Academy — which is now St. Dominic Catholic School — will make a presentation to the school board's Committee of the Whole at 6:30 tonight to discuss the plan.

St. Dominic School is slated to merge with Holy Family School, according to a decision by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, in time for the 2012-13 school year.

School board President David Gallianetti said the board has been discussing the idea for several months in closed session, and this will be the first time the issue will be discussed in the district publicly. In contrast to the origins of the district's 10 existing charter schools, this new one probably won't get any financial startup help from the district, Gallianetti said.

So I think this is their website.  Interesting.  Be glad we don't live in Philadelphia where the whole works is being razed.
