Cdl. Burke on short list for Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith?

But if not Mueller [Bad] - who at the moment is in pole position to be selected for the position - who else?  Americans, who in recent weeks have been making their ad limina visits to Rome, believe that the successor to William Levada should be an English speaking figure,  since the "front" of the Church's doctrinal battle is taking place mainly in the U.S. and in the Anglo-Saxon world in general.  In Rome, among those people who enjoy the Pope’s esteem and whom he listens to, is the Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature, Raymond Leo Burke.  Overseas,  Allen Henry Vigneron’s name has cropped up as a possible ideal candidate. [Vigneron's name is forever tied to this abomination] He is Archbishop of Detroit and a leading expert on philosophy and theology.

Soooooo, besides the points already mentioned:
1. There was a Cardinal concelebrating with the Holy Father for the Triduum in Rome by the name of Burke......  Just him and one other Cardinal.
2.  I'm seeing this pop up in a few other places now.
3.  Fact: Italians love the Cardinal.
4.  His Eminence has also been asking recently for extra prayers from his apostolates.
5.  If this were to happen... there would be no question that he is a front runner in the next conclave.  Yes, that is a chill just ran down the spine of every country club prelate in the US.

For Consideration: What if the SSPX has communicated to the Holy Father that his selection of the next Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith cannot be the Archbishop of Regensburg. Or, more positively, that reunification would happen if the Vicar of Christ appointed Cardinal Burke the next prefect.

I got a chill down my spine too--in hopes that it could happen. Cardinal Burke is one of the most faithful and unafraid prelates in the world and we love him.

I agree with Annon,We too love Cardinal Burke. He is exactly what we need to officiate and facilitate the Office of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. I also love Benedict and pray his days with us on this earth are long and productive. However, when the good Lord calls Pope Benedict home, I hope and pray the Holy Spirit blesses us with Cardinal Burke as our Holy Father. Cardinal Burke embodies all that is needed for the Church to continue the work of our previous POpes and that is the restoration of the Faith with all its traditons and fullness. God Bless Pope Benedict and Cardinal Burke.
