Pre Triduum news roundup

Too much news, not enough time.

Archbishop Listecki will be visiting local radio stations to deliver to share his annual Easter greeting.  That's Catholic Wisconsin.  I am told a secular radio station in La Crosse used to play bishop John Paul saying the Angelus every day at noon.  Details at ArchMil.

A Waukesha County Catholic priest ordered to spend the next year in prayer and penance for indirectly violating the seal of confession is appealing his verdict to the Vatican, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee has confirmed.  Details at MilJS.

Probably the biggest moment in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee's bankruptcy case is that the judge is considering unsealing archdiocese records, including a 2008 deposition of Abp. Weakland.  "Weakland testified in a 2008 deposition in a state court lawsuit that he shuffled abusive priests from post to post without informing parishioners, and he referred to Sklba as his "go-to guy" in handling sex abuse cases."  Details at MilJS

A judge on Tuesday denied a request from the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay that a jury from outside Outagamie County hear a civil lawsuit brought by two childhood sexual assault victims.  Details at GBPG

Manitowoc Catholics hope to build a new school by 2014-15.  Artist rendering at Herald Times.

Green Bay Packers have announced the Bishop's Charities Game will be either August 30 or 31st against the Kansas City Chiefs.  The Bishop's Charities Game dates back to 1961, when it was initiated by daily Mass going Vince Lombardi and the Diocese of Green Bay. Since then, the game has raised over $3.5 million.

A 100 year old priest in the Diocese of La Crosse recently passed away.  Requiescat in pace !

Did you know that there is a priest from Father Corapi .um ....errr...  I mean Black Sheep Dog's religious order in Madison who is now incardinated in the Diocese of Madison as of April 1st?

Oh, a new contributor to The Badger Catholic will be joining us in the near future. Stats are way up today as SpiritDaily.com linked to the Santorum photos.  Maybe that's why the header looks all screwy.  Need to ditch blogger!

And a very interesting article at the NY Times(I know, weird right?) from 2010; Marco Rubio: Catholic or Protestant?  It turns out Joe Biden goes to Mass more often that Rubio.  It makes Rubio less appealing to both Catholics and Evangelicals since by identifying with both, he identifies with neither.  Maybe this whole Paul Ryan VP thing really does have some legs.....

Some light posting until Easter Monday.  I pray dear readers that you have a deep and rich Triduum, and may the audacious miracle that confounds those of this world bring joy and peace into the hearts of your family.
