Blaming a Series of Tubes

So earlier this week I posted about the Internet being blamed for "circulating issues" about the Girl Scouts(as opposed to actually addressing the issues raised).  Something similar happened when issues were raised against the CCHD, the Internet was to blame.  So this prompted a reader to share with me something which I had not experienced yet; A Series of Tubes.  In 2006, US Senator Ted Stevens used this phrase to describe the Internet in a hearing on network neutrality.  Here is a link to the original. This metaphor has been widely ridiculed as demonstrating Stevens's poor understanding of the Internet, despite the fact that he was in charge of regulating it.

This gave rise to epic techno remixes.



Please remember, the Internet is not a big truck.  It is a series of tubes.
