USAToday: Topography of faith

Very cool interactive map over at USAToday

I wonder what a state would look like with 29% practicing Catholics, versus identifying Catholic.  With such a high Catholic population in our area and surrounding states, it baffles me that we have not started a Catholic university in the area.  Will Benedictine College in Kansas be the only truly Catholic college in the Midwest....  It is rumored that a Cardinal will be speaking there.

Univ of St. Thomas in Minneapolis shows signs of life.  BBach's got the scoop over there.  Bp. Ricken founded one of the best Catholic colleges today in Wyoming Catholic University.  Maybe he's only got one of those in him.  Politicking with the establishment in these universities is probably difficult.  If there was some independent group out there in the upper Midwest committed to the Church and her educational heritage.....  The problem with most major colleges around here is that they are run by the dead.  The way is shut. It was made by those who are Dead. And the Dead keep it. Jesuits, Norbertines, FSPAs; all are in need of serious reform.

The Benedictines of Norcia perhaps would like to found a college in Wisconsin?  I think ideally a new order reformed of the reform was established with a mission of higher education.  That is how it has been done throughout history.  If it is God's will, no financial obstacle will stand in the way.
