Pro-Life Wisconsin stands with U.S. Catholic bishops in fight for religious freedom

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has called for "A Fortnight for Freedom," during the two-week period from June 21 to July 4 -- beginning with the feasts of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher and ending with Independence Day -- to focus “all the energies the Catholic community can muster” for religious liberty.

Pro-Life Wisconsin urges Wisconsinites to heed the call and make a difference.

State Director Peggy Hamill offered the following comments:

Birth control is being enshrined as an entitlement through the Health and Human Services mandate. This mandate, which requires virtually every health insurance plan to offer all FDA approved birth control and all sterilizations free of charge, is an attempt to force people of conscience to participate in what they know to be intrinsically immoral.”

“Pro-lifers are on the brink of being driven to civil disobedience to simply adhere to the gospel of life. We must recommit ourselves to combat the contraceptive mentality. We mourn the loss of the untold millions of babies lost to abortifacients. We pray for the Church, for employers, for individuals and for ourselves, asking God for the courage to stand strong in rejection of the mandate.”
