Following the lead from several others who started these petitions, I created one for Wisconsin. As of writing this, the Texas petition had 50,000 signatures after one day, all that is required for consideration by the White House is 25,000.
It reads:

It's a nice thought, but I suggest you ask the Confederates how successful *asking* for secession is. The Decl. of Ind. was a document excusing the rebels' course of action. Consent of the governed has never been government policy since.
Petitions to the White House are a bit ludicrous. Now, OTH, having pro-lifers put pressure on the state legislatures to secede unless Roe is overturned is not. Pro-lifers don't have the votes to put hardcore pro-life candidates in office, but they have the signatures to force recall after recall after recall of anyone that is not. Pro-lifers have to stop playing nice and use they considerable grassroots base to stop politics as usual. Why shouldn't we be willing to sacrifice political stability to end genocide, when opting for get-a-long politics concedes the battle?

@Badger, This is on the whitehouse.gov site. They get your IP address and timestamp.
Anonymity on the web is a bit of a myth.
Like I said, BC, a tough nut indeed.
Considering how I'm getting my IP address right now, I'm still pretty safe. But point being, am I expected to be too afraid to stand up for anything? If someone has something to say to me, they know where to find me.
Let's face it: if the government starts rounding people up, this blog provides plenty of evidence for us to get locked up--petition or no petition.

An article appeared on CNN about these petitions:
"The fine print notes the White House "may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government in its response to a petition."
IE, you will get as much effect from that petition as one here on this site.

Anon, what is deplorable is that my fed tax dollars are going toward the slaughter of millions of unborn children.
What makes Catholic tax dollars more important than Jehovah's Witness tax dollars; their tax dollars go towards blood transfusions they believe are immoral and reprehensible.
Where will you secede to? You cannot even secede to the countries of the OT - after all it clearly says in the OT that a person is not living until God breathed life AFTER birth (in some instances through nostrils.
Anon, think about these three items:
1. I am more justified in my disappointment(for lack of a better term) of tax dollars going toward abortion. We are in two different ballparks here. Direct abortion in and of itself is an intrinsic evil, always and everywhere, and it should be avoided at all costs. A blood transfusion is morally neutral in and of itself, it is neither good nor evil. So your example doesn't hold any water.
2. You're assuming that I am Catholic. It is quite possible that I am not. In fact, I could even be a JW.
3. Where's this Old Testament stuff coming from? I think BC and all the others who signed the petition realize that it is highly unlikely that secession is even a remote possibility for WI or any other state for that matter. It's more an outlet to let our frustrations with the current situation in our country be known. Lighten up.
