I nearly titled this post, "Hiis Emiinence, Raymond Cardiinal Burke," but I thought this heading had a chance to rival "Were Ivo Shandor and Gozer the Gozerian right?" in terms of my all-time best titles. Let's move along to more serious discussion though, shall we?
Before Christmas this year, Matt helped give me some advice as I decided whether
my wife and I Santa should get a Wii for our five-year-old son. Ultimately, he helped us decide that yes, it would be a fun gift.
Even more than playing the actual games, I think Peter's favorite part of having a Wii is creating the characters (also known as Miis for you unwashed Philistines) in the games. Typically, he just makes guys as silly looking as he can. But tonight, without any suggestion or influence from anybody, he decided to make a Mii of Cardinal Burke.
To help him out, I looked up the picture on the left, and he created the Mii on the right.
His spelling could use a little work, but I think he did a pretty nice job. I'm going to place this image in my "Reasons I'm Going to Have as Many Kids as I Possibly Can" file.
While the issue of women priests is a settled matter, I have no documentation indicating how Wii Cardinal Burke feels about ordaining ducks to the priesthood. I'm sure this will be a big interest to Peter, who--at about three years of age--was operating under the assumption that Daffy Duck was a Catholic priest.
Initially, we weren't sure why, but photographic evidence soon made it clear. Let's examine.
Appearance of Roman collar? Check.
Always wearing blacks? Check.
If it walks like a priest and quacks like a priest...
