Archbishop Listecki on a new pope and spritual renewal - video

Wisconsin Tonight: Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki talks about the future of the Catholic Church and Cardinal Dolan's chances at the conclave.  (Listen to his comments on a Cardinal Wojtyla).....   Good interview.  Fair questions.

From +Listecki's recent email to the faithful:
Whoever becomes the new pope will generate an interest in him, and in the country, region or city of his origin. If it’s Cardinal Dolan, St. Louis will be declared a national shrine city, and if it’s Cardinal Harvey, Milwaukee will become the Catholic center of the United States – if not the universe. The bottom line is, the next pope will offer his vision that will help to shape the Church for the next decade.

Ricken hopes new pope is social media-savvy (ps> Latin Mass mentioned in this article)
“We have to be more progressive in the sense of reaching people today with the good news through modern means of social communications. So I’m hoping that this new pope will have that sense and that he’ll really want to move us forward in that direction,” Ricken said following a 50-minute Mass to give thanks to the outgoing pope.  [Of all the things I hope the pope is well versed in.... this is not in my top 10.  Now the Vatican Communications Office on the other hand.... ]

Bishop Robert Morlino interviewed by CBS News while in Rome

Bishop Morlino says American pope is possible.
"The big objection has always been that you cannot have a pope come from the unquestioned super power of the world," said Bishop Robert Morlino, of the Diocese of Madison.

That's changed now, according to Morlino.

"The way things have gone in the United States recently, I don't think at all that we're the unquestioned super power honestly, so I don't think that should be an obstacle," Morlino said.

Sunday, Morlino held a special prayer service ahead of Tuesday's conclave, when Cardinals will take up the task of electing a new pope. Some at the service have a candidate in mind for pope.

"I'm hoping for [Raymond Leo] Burke. It's a long shot, but I really think he's what the church needs," said Ben Yanke, who goes to St. Patrick Catholic Church. [You sly dog!]

"Everyone says we can't have an American pope but he's from America, where our primary export is the culture of death. So [Burke] knows how we can stop it," Yanke said.

Morlino has his own pick for pope, but said, "I'll just keep it to myself, and I'll only reveal it if he actually wins."

Morlino did however say his candidate is not from the United States.  [IIIIIIIIIIIIntersting]
For the record, the only bishop I've heard say there is no chance of an American is Bishop Callahan.
