A Milwaukee native who served his entire career in Texas has been named the new Bishop of El Paso.FaithWatch
Pope Francis on Monday named Dallas Auxiliary Bishop Mark Seitz to succeed Bishop Armando Ochoa, who was named in 2011 to lead the Fresno, Calif., diocese.
The oldest of 10 children, Seitz, 59, was born in Milwaukee and ordained in Okauchee, for the Diocese of Dallas, in 1980. He holds degrees in philosophy, divinity and theology from the University of Dallas, among others.
He was ordained as an auxiliary bishop in Dallas in 2010.
