Ss. Peter and Paul Parish will be the host of the image of Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos, the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay says. The statue is scheduled to be displayed in Green Bay in September.
According to the diocese, Franciscan friars brought the statue to the New World to help spread Christianity. The image is especially important in Mexico, and its visit to Green Bay will be accompanied by a priest from the shrine in Mexico where the statue is kept.
Diocesan officials say the statue is believed to be associated with healings of gravely ill people and those with addictions.
