Dec. 12, 2013: Members of Club Los Vaqueros Unidos (United Cowboy Club) of Wadsworth, Ill., wait for a blessing Dec. 8 after more than 100 horses and riders made their way past the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines, Ill., as part of a pre-celebration for her Dec. 12 feast day. More than 100,000 people make a pilgrimage to the shrine each year for event. The feast celebrates the appearance of Mary to indigenous peasant St. Juan Diego in 1531 near present-day Mexico City. I love that picture!
Me too!
If I may use this blog for a private purpose, I have been trying to make contact with someone in the Club Los Vaqueros Unidos organization. I am moving from the Chicago area to the Lacrosse area and need to unbundle. I have some authentic Mexican tack that I need to sell, and I thought these cowboys might be interested. If anyone can assist in this quest, please email me at leahbezin at comcast dot net. I enjoy this blog to stay up to date on the Latin Mass in my future home. Thanks, Matt.
