Marquette University’s men’s basketball team won its only national championship in 1977 — and did it wearing famously untucked jerseys. Commissioned by legendary coach Al McGuire, this subtly subversive uniform was designed by player and art major Bo Ellis. The jersey would later be banned by the NCAA, but this story tells how the power of a uniform allowed a championship team to flourish.
