KOSSUTH - Parishioners will say final prayers at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Saturday.continue at HTR
The small, rural church is closing its doors after more than a century of serving the community. No priest is available to celebrate masses, an official said, so the decision was made earlier this year to close the church. Church members likely will move to nearby St. Anne Parish in Francis Creek or Holy Cross Parish in Mishicot.
On Saturday, Bishop David Ricken of the Green Bay Catholic Diocese will deliver the final service at 4 p.m., with a meal to follow.
"The bishop normally comes when a parish church closes," said the Rev. John Becker of St. Anne. "When people lose something that means so much to them, he wants to be there."
Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle. 2 Thes 2:15
