On March 21, 2018 Brother James was beatified in Rome and is now officially Blessed Brother James Miller. Brother James is the first De La Salle Christian Brother from the United States — and the first alumnus of Saint Mary's University of Minnesota — to be beatified. Residencia Santiago Miller, on the Saint Mary's University Winona, Minnesota Campus, is named in honor of Brother James, who received his undergraduate degree in 1966 and his graduate degree in 1974.
