The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help will hold two Masses for the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday, December 8. The Masses at Champion Shrine are at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary recognizes that from conception, Mary was free from original sin. The Church acknowledges that humans are susceptible to sin, but Mary being free from sin allowed her to become the Mother of God.

“The Immaculate Conception reminds us that our Blessed Mother and Her love for us is a gift from God, both of whom gave us the gift of Jesus Christ,” says Fr. John Broussard, Rector of the Shrine. “It was from Her love and instructions to Adele Brise that began the work and mission of Champion Shrine, which we are forever grateful for.”

In addition, it was at the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in 2010 that The Rev. David L. Ricken, Bishop of Green Bay issued the formal declaration giving church approval to the apparitions that occurred in 1859.
