Bp Callahan to say Baccalaureate Mass for Viterbo Univ

LA CROSSE, Wis. – One hundred and fifteen students will be candidates for graduation at Viterbo University’s winter commencement ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Of the degrees conferred, 78 are undergraduate candidates, 32 are graduate candidates, and five are associate degree candidates.

The day will begin with a Baccalaureate Mass at 9 a.m. in Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Rose Convent. Most Reverend William Callahan, Bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse, will preside at the liturgy.

To perform its teaching and research functions effectively the Catholic university must have a true autonomy and academic freedom in the face of authority of whatever kind, lay or clerical, external to the academic community itself.
