Sacred Heart Church in Polonia, WI

The first Polish church in Wisconsin was built at Poland Corners in 1863, but because of the encroachment of saloons and the rugged lumbering elements, the parish moved to Polonia. The First Scared Heart Church was built in 1879 and destroyed, reportedly by sabotage, in the same year. The Second Sacred Heart Church was built in 1881, and destroyed by fire in 1903. Father Joseph Dombrowski was the leader and builder of the Polonia church.

I believe this is what the current church looks like.  Dare we look inside?

The church was also struck by lightning in 1934.

If I recallcorrectly, it is still just as beautiful inside as it is outside. That's such a neat spot!

If I'm in the area this summer, I'll have to bring my camera!
