400 Wisconsin nuns signed Walker recall petition, 4 on Viterbo Univ board

At least 392 nuns participated in the left’s effort to recall Wisconsin governor Scott Walker. These Catholic gals are supposed to be pro-life and embrace traditional moral values. As a group, they seem intent on replacing the pro-life Walker with a pro-abort/pro-gay marriage secular humanist. I guess the “social justice” sisters support lefty Democrats  because they have confused nanny state socialism with charity.  Leftist claptrap psychobabble (think radical feminism/”gay equality”/moral relativism ETC) likely also holds a lot of appeal to them. Someone please explain to them that  socialism  A) doesn’t work B) involves forcible theft of the fruit of citizens’ labor  B) requires surrendering liberty to secular statist central planners  and  C)  can only be enforced by a tyranny.

Several recaller nuns acted as signature gatherers.  Some acted as witnesses to their own  signatures or signed twice, which is like voting twice. Many are so old that you have to wonder if they were taken advantage of by younger nuns. I bet the old ones also get a lot of “help” filling out absentee ballots.

There are many in the group with important sounding titles.  For example,

Sister  Linda Mershon is the President of  the order Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration (FSPA).   [La Crosse .... this is nothing new]

Sister Celine Goessl not only signed the petition, but acted as a signature gatherer. She is listed as Provincial Superior for the Holy Cross Sisters (USA Province) and as President of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross Corporation.  [Merrill, WI]

Sister Carol Thresher is Provincial Superior of  the Sisters of the Divine Savior (USA Province).  [Wauwatosa, WI]

Sister Regina Pacis Meservey is a member of the Board of Trustees for Alverno College. [Milwaukee]
Sister Joanne Schatzlein is a Trustee of Cardinal Stritch University. [Milwaukee]
Sister Sara Jean Donegan sits on the Corporate Board of Mount Mary College. [Milwaukee]
And no less than four nun recallers sit on the Board of Trustees for Viterbo University: [La Crosse]
Sister Marie DesJarlais, Sister Karen Kappell, Sister Lucy Ann Meyer and Sister Romana Klaubauf.

Wisconsin Catholic Colleges have pro-homosexual clubs

Why are pro-homosexual clubs allowed to promote anti-Catholic behavior on Catholic campuses?

After examining the official web sites of 244 Catholic universities and colleges in America, TFP Student Action found that 107 – or 43% – recognize student clubs that favor the homosexual agenda.  Many of these clubs promote same-sex “marriage,” open homosexuality in the military, and push for the mainstreaming of unnatural vice.

Here are a few examples:

Saint Norbert College’s Rainbow Alliance promotes anti-Catholic events such as Celebrate Bisexuality Day, National Coming Out Day, Transgender Day, and Gender Bender Dances.

The University of Notre Dame’s Core Council for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Questioning Students promotes a campus wide Day of Silence, and works to implement “educational programming on gay and lesbian issues.

Stritch Univ. hosts Bishop Hying in new lecture series aimed at business

Cardinal Stritch University’s Saint Clare Center for Catholic Life is launching a new breakfast lecture series aimed at the Catholic business community that focuses on the intersection between faith and industry.

The new Forums on Faith and Work, modeled after the old Peter Favre Forums once sponsored by Marquette University, will feature presentations by theologians and scholars on topics of interest to the business community, said St. Clare Center Executive Director Eamonn O’Keeffe.

Each breakfast, four times a year at the Milwaukee Athletic Club, will be hosted by new Stritch President James Loftus and his wife, Irene. And while it’s a great opportunity for Loftus to make connections in the business community, that was not the impetus for the forum, O’Keeffe says.

“The Catholic business community has been crying for some kind of format ever since the Peter Favre Forum ended,” he said. “People in the business community really do want something beyond the Sunday sermon to help them live their Catholic faith.”

While the topics will be driven in part by the business community, speakers will not shy a way from the tenets of Catholic social teaching on such issues as labor, the common good and profit, O’Keeffe said. Milwaukee Bishop Donald Hying is expected to touch on at least some of those in the kickoff lecture, “Living the Creative Power of God in the Work We Do,” 7-9:30 a.m. Oct. 21.

Ahem, I seriously doubt Cardinal Stritch University correctly understands Catholic Social Teaching.  On the other hand, they recently removed their affiliation with Planned Parenthood so maybe someone over there is trying to right the ship.  But if you do not correctly understand the Church's teaching on the Gospel of Life you will never understand her social teachings.  Being pro-life is the foundation.

Abp Listecki leads first Mass in new "Chapel" at Stritch Univ.

Cardinal Stritch University will celebrate the first mass in the new chapel on the second floor of Bonaventure Hall on Tuesday. The service will be lead by Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki.

This Mass commemorates the death of St. Francis of Assisi[Oct 4th] and recognize the Franciscan pilgrims leaving for Assisi, Italy.
