Priest being "forced out" of Green Bay

Not sure what this is all about.  Does anyone know the whole story?  The City Council wanted him out so the diocese ships him out?  He sounds like a solid priest from what I found online.
Amid speculation that the Rev. Guy Blair is being forced out of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in downtown Green Bay, the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay said Thursday that his transfer to a Combined Locks parish is due to a priest shortage.

Blair is needed in the larger parish community of St. Paul Catholic Church and will leave St. John this fall, Bishop David Ricken said in a written statement.

Blair instituted a Mass for the deaf and gave rise to a homeless shelter in the church gym since coming to Green Bay from San Antonio, Texas, in September 2005.

In 2007, the Green Bay City Council voted to deny the permit allowing the shelter’s operation, but the diocese gave Blair permission to operate at the site with or without a permit.

The diocese thanked Blair for serving the parish, the homeless and the deaf community.

Blair’s successor will be announced Tuesday.

Today's earlier story: Parishioners meet on Blair's transfer

Parishioners are at a crossroads over the transfer of the Rev. Guy Blair and some believe it will be the demise of their faith community at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

A group of about 100 members held a private meeting Wednesday night at the church to form an opinion on Blair's transfer to a parish in Combined Locks this fall, according to an e-mail from members sent to the Press-Gazette.

Blair instituted a Mass for the deaf in his four-year tenure at St. John's. Some of the hearing-impaired said they had no input in the decision to transfer Blair. Others believe Blair is being forced out.

The Catholic Diocese of Green Bay declined comment. A prayer vigil is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's, 413 St. John St.

It is disturbing to me the remarks made that Fr. Blair is being forced out. Oh what little faith do such people have in their Church! The hierarchy have a greater vision of the needs of the universal church and what to do about it.
People in a particular parish are sometimes blinded by their particular wants, and comforts they establish and that can be an obstacle to the workings of the Holy Spirit. We should be interfering with workings of the Holy Spirit.
