Bishop Callahan to celebrate Immaculate Conception at Guadalupe Shrine

Well, I don't see any details yet on the Shrine website, but I've been told this is happening.

Also Bishop Callahan is a Conventual Franciscan.  You might be interested to know that the Friars of the Immaculate broke from the Conventual Franciscans in 1990.  Bishop Callahan has been nothing but hospitable to the Friars, but I thought that was an interesting dynamic here.

Cardinal Burke will also be in town for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th at the Shrine.

Update: Cardinal Burke will NOT be here on December 12. It is the 3rd Sunday in Advent so that trumps Our Lady’s feast even if it is the patronal feast of the Shrine. He did, however, receive permission from Bishop Callahan and the Diocese of La Crosse to celebrate OLG’s feast on December 11. Details on Masses from the 8th to the 12th will be coming out soon. Just know that Cardinal Burke will be here on the 11th but not the 12th.
