Pro-infanticide Russ Feingold to teach at Marquette University

.... I would have bet $100 to someone that he was going to teach at UW in Madison.  Infanticide?  From his own mouth.  I expect these kinds of appointments coming out of Madison, but Marquette?  And Marquette Law School?  This is the same law school that has produced some truly great legal minds, and had US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia say this in September:
"The reality is that the part of your academic career that will have the most lasting impact and that will be remembered after you are long gone is those hours you spent producing a living intellectual legacy in the classroom," Scalia said. "I hope Marquette will always be a teaching law school."
So remember this Marquette law students: compromise everything that you are and drift with the winds of change.  No legal principal is to great, no ethical problem to grave, that you cannot compromise everything you are to become rich and powerful.  Or in Marquette's case, to become "prestigious."

Feingold will join two other Marquette professors who are also on the Planned Parrenthood of Wisconsin board.

I saw somebody search this but no Feingold is not Catholic, he is Jewish.

Here's the press release:
Former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold will join the Marquette University Law School faculty as visiting professor of law beginning the spring semester 2011, the university announced today. Feingold completed his third term in the U.S. Senate January 3.

“Senator Feingold joins Marquette Law School with a substantial academic, legal and legislative background,” said Joseph D. Kearney, dean of Marquette University Law School, in announcing the appointment. “He will draw on all of this in working with students in their analysis of some of the most complex legal issues facing our nation and world today. I look forward to his service on our faculty.”

Feingold will teach an elective course, Current Legal Issues: The U.S. Senate, to upper-level law students. He earned his undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a former Rhodes Scholar and an honors law graduate of both Oxford University and Harvard University. He practiced law for six years with two Wisconsin law firms, Foley & Lardner and LaFollette & Sinykin. Feingold served for 10 years in the Wisconsin Senate and 18 years in the United States Senate, where he was a member of the Foreign Relations, Intelligence, Budget and Judiciary Committees.

“As I looked at beginning to write the next chapter of my professional life, the opportunity to be in a Wisconsin classroom with engaged law students is one I found very appealing,” said Feingold. “Marquette Law School is a dynamic place, and I look forward to being part of it.”

While teaching at Marquette University Law School, Feingold also expects to begin work on a book.

It's pretty sad that a "Catholic" university would have such a professor, even just visiting for an elective course, but at least it's only that. Why am I not surprised he's working on a book? Oh, joy.

BTW, have you recently added the reactions buttons? I like. I think it'll always be time for a drink.

Hey-maybe the Archdiocese could unload Marquette to help pay off bills.

Hmmm...I can't imagine that this will sit well with the good Archbishop. God help that man, up to his neck in all kinds of yuckiness. He is truly enduring the sufferings of Christ.

As a Catholic, I am appalled that a so called Catholic University allows such an evil person to be part of the Catholic family. I guess if X speaker Policy can be part of the Catholic family, Russ Feingold can also be part of our family. Where is our Catholic Clergy Leadership on these issues? Seems like abortion is OK and not an issue for our Clergy Leadership! James McMahon

Well, well! Back in the Spring of 1962 female students had to wear a coat to cover bermuda shorts even on the weekend when heading to the beach from the dorm! Dress codes are gone - so okay, but Feingold teaching on current issues? Id' be fine with a pro/con panel discussion whereby his views are challenged. Marquette is hypocritical. So far as I know the law school is not part of the state as is the dental school (the only dental school in Wisconsin).

Anon3, I agree, it's perfectly acceptable to have Feingold come to discuss the issue in a classroom or debate type of setting. It's unacceptable to hire him and place the Marquette stamp of approval on his infanticide support. It's worse than classless, it's soul-less.

Here is what I would like to know. How do you say that Marquette produced Antonin Scalia... Not only did he never attend there, I can find nothing about him teaching there. Maybe before you speak you should spend some time doing some research and citing your sources

"[Marquette] had US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia say this in September:"

No, I did not say that Scalia attended or taught at MU, but he did visit MU last September as the JSOnline article linked to states. Sorry for the confusion Cranky.

How sad to hire Feingold. He is against the meaning of Christ's teachings. My heart is saddened to know that Marquette would hire this man. Does Marquette have any Catholic principles left? It doesn't seem so.
