So Many Illinois Pro-Lifers Flooded the Capitol Opposing Abortions Up to Birth They Had to Shut It Down

Pro-lifers flooded the Illinois Capitol on Wednesday in opposition to several radical pro-abortion bills that would allow unborn babies to be aborted up to birth.

The Illinois News Network reports so many people showed up for the peaceful pro-life rally that police temporarily closed access to the capitol due to “overcrowding.”

Photos on Illinois Right to Life’s Facebook page show pro-lifers packed in the capitol rotunda. The pro-life group said more people stood outside the building because they could not get inside.

“There is widespread outcry from the people of Illinois against these extreme anti-women and anti-children bills since they were introduced a month ago,” said Mary Kate Knorr of Illinois Right to Life Action, prior to the rally. “Residents from all corners of Illinois are expressing outrage at this proposed legislation, which disregards the health and safety of women.”

Abp Listecki There is a Right Answer in Abortion Debate

When missionaries reached the shores of newly discovered lands, they were confronted with the culture of people who had no relationship to Christianity. In fact, some still practiced the brutal custom of human sacrifice to the gods they worshipped. Of course, this appalled the missionaries and adventurers who considered themselves both “enlightened and progressive.” However, in their zeal for the conversion of the native people, they used the message of Christianity to expunge this barbaric practice. It seemed simple on its face that human life demanded respect and this pagan practice did little to support the “imago dei,” the teaching that every life has the imprint of God on their being.

A couple of weeks ago, the state of New York passed legislation that allowed the extinction of a human life up until the moment of birth. As some have explained, even if the attempted abortion is botched and the baby born alive, there would be a right under the law to “euthanize” the baby. Is this the witness to Christianity and its teaching that our forefathers envisioned for our nation?

Now that we know that Milwaukee Journal Sentinel editors and reporters are really interested in the abortion views of prominent Wisconsin politicians from the 1990's, perhaps they'll get around to posting big headlines about former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold endorsing the right to infanticide.

On September 26, 1996, Senator Russ Feingold was asked by former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum if the right to an abortion still existed even if a baby were partially or fully delivered. Here is the exchange.

Bp. Callahan talk Gosnell trial media blackout, "insidious evil" and "ruthlessness" of abortion

There are very few things in life that make me rise to my feet and shout out loud more than the single issue of the sacredness of human life. Over my thirty-six years of priestly ministry, I have delivered some of my most passionate homilies on the beauty and sacredness of human life. I find it personally disturbing that in the wake of the sexual revolution we are becoming less and less concerned with the value of human life. Abortion is at the forefront of the matter, but all life and its value has succumbed to human ignorance and the pursuit of transitory moments of pleasure. These instances are becoming more intense in their violence against women and their ruthlessness in actions of aggression against any and all human beings.

Thus, much of the public has been denied access to the trial of Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist who ran a “clinic” in Philadelphia. He faces 43 criminal counts, including eight counts of murder, one adult and seven newborn infants. The infants, it is alleged, were born in the midst of a procedure known as late term abortion—more commonly called partial-birth abortions. Partial-birth abortions were banned by Congress[well... sort of, but not really] and signed into law by President Bush in 2003. In that law, partial-birth abortions were defined as: “An abortion in which the person performing the abortion, deliberately and intentionally vaginally delivers a living fetus until, in the case of a head-first presentation, the entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or, in the case of breech presentation, any part of the fetal trunk past the navel is outside the body of the mother, for the purpose of performing an overt act that the person knows will kill the partially delivered living fetus; and performs the overt act, other than completion of delivery, that kills the partially delivered living fetus.” (18 U.S. Code 1531)

Most of us would agree that once a child is delivered from his or her mother’s womb, it is no longer a fetus, but a viable human being. Most attempts to kill those babies would be seen as horrifying and, indeed, criminal. Arguments in this trial have been trying to “split the hair” of what to call those living babies who were murdered. Let’s try “babies.” Let’s try to at least give these abortion victims the benefit of the doubt—let’s try “human beings.”

You may not have seen or even heard about this trial, because there are many people who are preventing you from hearing about it. The mainstream media has not brought this story to the prominence it deserves. Government and business leaders have not brought it forward. The abortion industry does not want to talk about this, because they know this mess undoes all of their hard work trying to tell us how they are providing “healthcare for women.”

Abortion is such an insidious evil in our midst. It has done such harm to our society, and it continues to dull our consciences. This case manifests the damage done and cries out for justice and common sense to return to our troubled lives. Pray for those affected. Support and promote the sacredness of life—it is a divine gift!

Gosnell Trial Witness: Baby Abortion Survivor Was 'Swimming' in Toilet 'Trying to Get Out'

On the last day of testimony before the prosecution rests in the murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell, a former worker at Gosnell's clinic testified that she saw one late-term baby who survived an abortion "swimming" in a toilet and "trying to get out."

Kareema Cross, a “medical assistant” who worked at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society clinic for four-and-a-half years, testified in a Philadelphia court today, telling of the horrors of babies who survived abortions only to have their necks snipped with scissors.

“Did you ever see those babies move?” asked Prosecutor Joanne Pescatore.

“Yes, once in the toilet,” said Cross.

The baby “was like swimming,” she said. “Basically, trying to get out.”

We might owe some of this course correction to the fact that the chief critic of media malpractice on Gosnell, Kirsten Powers, is not a conservative. Powers is a former Democratic political consultant who worked in the Clinton White House, and she supports most liberal causes, but she hasn’t spent her entire career in the media or the professional Left. She grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, understands the values of the Heartland, and is a practicing Christian. From her perspective, many people at both ends of the political spectrum wear ideological blinders. “This inability to engage in debate or handle disagreement is becoming the calling card of the Left,” she told the Religious News Service last week. “It should be a top concern for Americans, especially if you are a liberal and you believe dissent is a critical part to democracy.”

Infanticide Feingold says Catholic Marquette Univ. asked him to return next year

They must think we Catholics are suckers.

When Russ Feingold represented Wisconsin in the Senate, he voted for taxpayer funding of abortion and opposed any ban on gruesome practice of partial-birth abortion.

Thankfully, last November, the voters in Wisconsin said they didn’t want him anymore.

Ah, but have no fear! Marquette Law gave Russ a call. As I mentioned earlier this year: Marquette Law hired a man as a teacher who voted to warp our laws against defending little children in the womb.

To the disappointment of liberal Democrats, Russ Feingold announced this morning that he won’t be challenging Scott Walker in a race for governor nor will he run for the Senate seat vacated by retiring Democrat Herb Kohl.

Well, good.

But guess what he cited as a reason not to run?

Teaching law during the spring semester at Marquette University Law School was a joy. The Marquette Law School is a thriving academic institution situated in a beautiful new building, Eckstein Hall. I found my time with the dean, staff, faculty, and especially the students at Marquette to be a terrific first experience in teaching law. I am pleased that I have been asked to return to teach full-time this fall and look forward to doing so.

Wisconsin abortion facilities not subject to health inspections

An open records request conducted by Pro-Life Wisconsin has revealed the state’s abortion facilities are not inspected by the Department of Health Services and no records exist of any such past inspections. Furthermore, there is no state statute mandating health inspections of the state’s abortuaries. 

“January 22 marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and a death toll of 53.5 million babies aborted nationwide,” stated Peggy Hamill, state director of Pro-Life Wisconsin.  “Abortion may be legal, but here in Wisconsin, it is neither safe nor rare.” 

By contrast, all restaurants in Wisconsin receive a health inspection at least once per year.  

“Whether a facility heals or kills, there are standards of care that must be adhered to,” stated Virginia Zignego, communications director who is overseeing this investigation. “It is unbelievable that abortion facilities do not receive even the scrutiny that a fast food restaurant does. At the end of the day, the state of Wisconsin and the health department are responsible for the health of the public.”

Hamill challenged the state’s abortion facilities to voluntarily submit to a health inspection.

“Show the women of Wisconsin how ‘safe’ your facilities are,” Hamill said.

That is an amazing fact considering a Philadelphia abortionist is being charged with murder for killing two women during abortion and the murder of seven infants born alive. 

This means that even the limited restrictions in the state on when an abortion can be performed are not being enforced.  Infanticide could be happening in the state and nobody would be the wiser .

NARAL grades Wisconsin a C minus on ability to abort children

1/14, 4:13p: Here’s one time when we hope for a bad grade, an “F” in NARAL’s annual state report cards and ranking.

NARAL has just released its 20th annual report, Who Decides? The Status of Women’s Reproductive Rights in the United States, and I’m happy to announce 19 states got Fs this year. Taking reverse first place would be North Dakota, ranked 50th!

On the other end – bummer – NARAL gave As to 16 states, A+ even to California and Washington, ranked 1 and 2 respectively.

Reporting on Who Decides?, Womensenews.org quoted NARAL policy director Donna Crane as predicting “2011 will be a banner year for anti-choice legislation in the states,” anticipating a “deluge” of pro-life legislation due to the shifting state legislatures. We can only hope.

Pro-infanticide Russ Feingold to teach at Marquette University

.... I would have bet $100 to someone that he was going to teach at UW in Madison.  Infanticide?  From his own mouth.  I expect these kinds of appointments coming out of Madison, but Marquette?  And Marquette Law School?  This is the same law school that has produced some truly great legal minds, and had US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia say this in September:

"The reality is that the part of your academic career that will have the most lasting impact and that will be remembered after you are long gone is those hours you spent producing a living intellectual legacy in the classroom," Scalia said. "I hope Marquette will always be a teaching law school."

So remember this Marquette law students: compromise everything that you are and drift with the winds of change.  No legal principal is to great, no ethical problem to grave, that you cannot compromise everything you are to become rich and powerful.  Or in Marquette's case, to become "prestigious."

Feingold will join two other Marquette professors who are also on the Planned Parrenthood of Wisconsin board.

I saw somebody search this but no Feingold is not Catholic, he is Jewish.

Former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold will join the Marquette University Law School faculty as visiting professor of law beginning the spring semester 2011, the university announced today. Feingold completed his third term in the U.S. Senate January 3.

“Senator Feingold joins Marquette Law School with a substantial academic, legal and legislative background,” said Joseph D. Kearney, dean of Marquette University Law School, in announcing the appointment. “He will draw on all of this in working with students in their analysis of some of the most complex legal issues facing our nation and world today. I look forward to his service on our faculty.”

Feingold will teach an elective course, Current Legal Issues: The U.S. Senate, to upper-level law students. He earned his undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a former Rhodes Scholar and an honors law graduate of both Oxford University and Harvard University. He practiced law for six years with two Wisconsin law firms, Foley & Lardner and LaFollette & Sinykin. Feingold served for 10 years in the Wisconsin Senate and 18 years in the United States Senate, where he was a member of the Foreign Relations, Intelligence, Budget and Judiciary Committees.

“As I looked at beginning to write the next chapter of my professional life, the opportunity to be in a Wisconsin classroom with engaged law students is one I found very appealing,” said Feingold. “Marquette Law School is a dynamic place, and I look forward to being part of it.”

While teaching at Marquette University Law School, Feingold also expects to begin work on a book.
