Milwaukee parish created to serve Korean community
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has created a new parish on the south side to serve the area's Korean community, Archbishop Jerome Listecki announced this week.
St Mary Magdalen Parish, 1854 W. Windlake Ave., has been designated a "personal parish," meant to draw members based on their culture and language rather than geography, he said.
Mass will be celebrated exclusively in Korean, with some readings in English. [... apparently none in Latin...]
The move was made to accommodate the growing Korean membership at the church, while its European-American population was dwindling. It also is a response to the priest shortage and limited resources, said Father Paul Stanosz, who had served as administrator at the church until recently. The Saturday English Mass was drawing only about 20 people, he said.

I never quite understood why St. Mary Magdalene was established in the first place, along with several others established in the South Side in 1925...
