(WEAU) -Homeless in Eau Claire now have a new place to spend the night.WEAU
The Sojourner House held its opening celebration Friday. The shelter, which is located at 618 South Barstow, will provide a place for homeless men and women to stay and will offer programs to help get them back on their feet.
Bishop William Callahan with the Eau Claire Diocese says "This is an opportunity for us to stop and see that we actually are taking this seriously, and looking at the opportunities that are available to us to take care of the poor among us."
The sad thing is that there are plenty of Catholics who have no idea what diocese they live in.

There was some speculation in the past of creating a Roman Catholic Diocese of Wisconsin Rapids if a need is there. I have not heard anything in recent reasons.
Erm...isn't Eau Claire a suburb of LaCrosse......:)
Carve out a sizable chunk of D. of Superior for inclusion in new diocese.
There is an Episcopal Church Diocese of Eau Claire; perhaps the WEAU reporter got confused...
(And before anyone makes some snippy comments about the Episcopal Church -- I write as an ex-Episcopalian turned Catholic -- the Diocese of Eau Claire was one of the stalwart handful that longest resisted the sad radicalization of that church.)
