Wisconsin dioceses' observances of Roe v. Wade

Photo: Bishop Hying, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, said Mass for PLW's annual Rally for Life, held the weekend before Roe v. Wade in Milwaukee. Wrap-up here.

Only two dioceses in Wisconsin -- Milwaukee and Green Bay -- will be officially observing Roe v. Wade. In the 3 other dioceses -- Madison, La Crosse and Superior -- individual parishes and pro-life chapters are holding pro-life Masses and prayer vigils. (Email me if you want to know what's in your area!) I have my frustrations with the Archdiocese but they have to be commended for consistently marking the anniversary of legalized abortion.

Diocese of Green Bay Respect Life Mass: Join The Most Reverend David L. Ricken for the Annual Diocesan Respect Life Mass. Wednesday, January 18 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton or Friday, January 20 at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Green Bay. Masses begin at 7:00 p.m.

Archdiocese of Milwaukee Respect Life Mass: On Monday, January 23, Archbishop Listecki will preside at the Archdiocese’s observance of the National Day of Penance and Prayer. The Archdiocesan Respect Life Mass will be held at St. Jerome Parish in Oconomowoc (995 S Silver Lake St). Seminarians from St. Francis de Sales Seminary will lead the Rosary for Life at 6:00pm, followed by Mass at 7:00pm. A reception will follow. Come join in fellowship with Catholics from around the Archdiocese as we pray in penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion and for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life. (Stop by and visit Pro-Life Wisconsin's table while you're there!!)

Holy Hour For Life – January 22, 2012: An Hour of Prayer with Exposition of the Holy Eucharist: On January 22, the vigil of the National Day of Penance and Prayer, a Holy Hour for Life will be held simultaneously in approximately 100 parishes across the Archdiocese from 7-8pm. These Holy Hours will be lead by Deacons of the Milwaukee Archdiocese, and co-sponsored by Deacon Services and the Nazareth Project for Marriage and Family Formation. A PDF with a list of locations is available on both the Archdiocesan website and the John Paul II Center website. Please consider coming to spend an hour in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament praying for a consistent life ethic for all stages of life – from conception to natural death.
