Well blow me down! So very near yet so very far away but praise God and halleluiah!
Agree with Williams comment! How very exciting! Still is over a two hour drive for me though...wish it was closer so I could participate. But I will certainly be praying that this devotion with spread far and wide in the Superior Diocese!
I never thought I'd see the day. Slava tebe boze nas! (sorry everything has gone Byzantine for me but great to see somone putting the Latin back into Latin Rite up north!)
Слава Тебе, Боже наш!
амінь!
oh wow, very good use of Cyrillic alphabet Badger Catholic, St. Cyril would be proud!Remember don't trust the pagan-era Roman alphabet go Cyrillic!
I had to learn a little Russian for work - and a little help with the Cyrillic from Google translate ;)
(Brian from Illinois): I just sent an email yesterday to Father William Brenna, the Pastor of the Mellen Cluster Parish inquiring when and where the next Latin Mass was. Father Brenna told me that (unfortunately) he's being transferred to Osceola, Wisconsin (in the western part of the Superior Diocese) on July 2, and since he's the only Priest in the Superior Diocese who offers the Latin Mass at this time, it will not continue at Mellen. :( I asked him if he planned to continue the Latin Mass at Osceola, and he told me that he hopes to maybe in the fall, depending on if he can get any help from the laity. :( So let's pray that it can be started up again in Osceola, and that more Priests in the Superior Diocese will (want to) learn how to say the Latin Mass. The Superior Diocese has been described as a "liturgical backwater", and having the Latin Mass can only help the Diocese.
Very interesting, thanks Brian. Hopefully Osceola will help support the TLM on a regular basis.
(Brian): I think it's also a very good thing that Bishop Peter Christensen is open to having the Latin Mass celebrated in his Diocese. Please pray for him as he only has five seminarians right now, and he recently had to have another Priest from India come into the Superior Diocese to take over as Pastor at Holy Rosary in Mellen to replace Father Brenna. Also, Father Gene Murphy who was just ordained in 2010, has been named the new Parochial Administrator of six (!!!) Churches in the Ladysmith area. They are really hurting for Priests in the Superior Diocese.
