+Listecki issue statement on Milwaukee Sikh shooting

Milwaukee Archdiocese:
Members of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee share our thoughts with the victims, families, friends and emergency responders involved in the Sunday morning shooting in Oak Creek, Wis.

In response, Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki issued the following statement:

“Our prayers go out to the congregation at the temple and to the entire Sikh community. It is in times like these that we turn to God who is the consolation and hope for all of us.”

Madison Diocese: Prayers for more victims of needless violence, this time close to home here in WI.

It is reported the shooter was a white supremacist and an Army 'Psychological operations specialist'.  I don't think many details have been released yet, but they said the shooter had lived in North Carolina and Colorado before moving to Cudahy.   Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has details.

According to Wikipedia;
Sikhism is a monotheistic religion founded during the 15th century in the Punjab region, by Guru Nanak Dev and continued to progress with ten successive Sikh gurus (the last teaching being the holy scripture Gurū Granth Sāhib Ji). It is the fifth-largest organized religion in the world, with over 30 million Sikhs and one of the most steadily growing. This system of religious philosophy and expression has been traditionally known as the Gurmat (literally 'wisdom of the Gurū'). Punjab, India is the only region in the world with a majority Sikh population.
