Chippewa Falls Catholic Deanery will celebrate

Wednesday, Oct. 24-Friday, Oct. 26[sorry I'm a little late posting this] at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 810 Pearl St., Chippewa Falls. The event commemorates the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council.

Wednesday begins with a youth mass at 7 p.m. Guest homilist will be Father Eric Nielson, a priest of the Diocese of Madison and pastor of the St. Paul University Catholic Center at UW-Madison[nicely done!]. He is a gifted preacher who has a message for young people and the young of heart.

The Mass will feature music by the Viterbo University Concert Choir in collaboration with the McDonell Central Catholic High School Choir.

Thursday events

A Solemn Pontifical Mass and Torch-Light Eucharistic Procession will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Most Rev. William P. Callahan, Bishop of La Crosse, will be Principal celebrant and homilist.

Also on Thursday is the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation, during which individual confessions will be heard from 9-11 a.m. and from 4-6 p.m.

Very Rev. Joseph Deirmeier, Vicar General of the Diocese of La Crosse, will speak at 11 a.m. on the Holy Eucharist as the new and eternal covenant established by Christ. Lunch will be served following his presentation.Pray for the ill and infirm during a blessing of the sick at 1 p.m., followed by eucharistic benediction with Father Deirmeier preaching

One quick correction - his name is spelled 'Nielsen'. Looks like a great event!
