The Squires of Divine Mercy

This fall marks my fifth involved with Fr. Rick Heilman's Knights of Divine Mercy, which Matt chronicled back in September. But Badger Catholics might also be interested to know that this fall marks the beginning of the Squires of Divine Mercy for Catholic boys, ages 5-18. Here's how the Squires describe themselves:
We’ve been operating a successful Catholic boys club for the past eight years and are now taking a new direction under Father Rick Heilman, Knights of Divine Mercy founder. During our weekly Monday meetings, boys will learn about the lives of the Saints. In addition they will play sports and share a snack together.
The weekly Squires meetings feature Saints, Sports, and Snacks--which makes me wish I weren't a decade too old for membership.

Someone who's not too old for membership, however, is my five-year-old son, Peter. Peter has provided me with pretty thorough updates about how he's learning about Bl. John Paul II and has been playing dodgeball--not bad for a kid who can spend seven hours in school and say "I don't know," when I ask him what he learned.

In fact, as he went to bed on Election Night, the last thing he said was "Viva Cristo Rey! Viva!"--which he said he picked up at the Squires. If that's not enough reason to sign up immediately, I don't know that there's much more I can do.

I bet you'd like to know when the Squires meet and how you can get your son involved. Visit www.SquiresOfDivineMercy.com. For all the details.
