Sconnie papal roundup

Bp Ricken answers questions from media
Bp. Callahan
Successors to the Ministry of Peter will, thanks largely to the vision of Popes John Paul and Benedict, be considered from the world wide Catholic community. This, as Pope Benedict has shown, truly magnifies the dynamic of social media and worldwide connectivity. The Church is truly a global force announcing the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Pope—and his successor—will continue to unite the world and strengthen that message among us.
Bp. Morlino
With the rest of you, I woke this morning to learn of the shocking, but not altogether surprising, news that our beloved Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, is resigning his service as the successor of St. Peter, Bishop of Rome. His announcement brings me sadness personally, as he is a hero to me and a great shepherd for the Church.
Abp. Listecki
I have feelings of both great joy and great sadness as I learn of the Holy Father's resignation announcement today, effective February 28, 2013.

Joy, because he will have the opportunity to enjoy some personal time in his golden years. Sadness, because we will miss his holy, evangelical work.
Bp. Ricken
I was as shocked as everyone else to hear the news that our Holy Father has tendered his resignation from the office of the successor to Peter. He has written about this as a possibility, which we can now say was a preparation for this. This was a courageous decision made by Pope Benedict, and we thank him for his years of service.

The important thing for us to remember is that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide the Church and for all of us to pray for Pope Benedict and for the cardinals who will select a successor.
The Diocese of Green Bay even called a press conference(which is an absolutely brilliant idea).

I agree, he will be back in some form. But hey, we're not going to have a pope after the 28th so these missing the head things happen.
