ToT Madison: "Discovering the Eternal Significance of Our Daily Work"

Theology on Tap is a monthly event where 20s&30s are invited to join us for free beer and engaging talks by some of the leading thinkers, speakers, educators, innovators, and activists in the nation as they share their insights on various contemporary issues facing young adults today.

When: Thursday, February 28 -- 7:00pm

Topic:  Are our jobs in the secular world something completely separate from our life of faith? If faith should enter into all aspects of our lives, how can we approach our work so that it bears fruit for the Kingdom of God?

Want to know the secret to getting the full potential out of your work?
Do you allow mediocrity to sabotage your work?
Want to improve your attitude at work?
Do you do you love your work or do you work with love?

Join us at Theology on Tap as Juan Landa dives into these questions and more.

Speaker: Juan Landa

Bio: Juan Landa is the founder of Mater Dei Catholic Pilgrimages. Born in communist Cuba; raised in fascist Spain and in an underdeveloped Puerto Rico. He graduated from Florida State University. Juan Landa has worked his way up in the tourism industry from being a waiter to becoming a tour guide to managing hotels to founding his own tourism company. He has fulfilled the proverbial "American Dream". Juan Landa learned that his Faith plays an integral part of his work! When he is not traveling leading pilgrimage groups all over the world, he lives in Waunakee, WI, with his family.

Spain under Franco wasn't really Fascist, even wikipedia will tell you, "Stanley Payne, a scholar of fascism and Spain, notes: "scarcely any of the serious historians and analysts of Franco consider the generalissimo to be a core fascist."

Under Franco Spain was consecrated to the Sacred Heart. While he did rule as a military strong-man and was not saint (but were any leaders at that time? Even FDR and Churchill had done some awful things), he did topple a Stalinist backed gov't that had been killing clergy and religious in droves and he paved the way for Spain to make a peaceful transition to a constitutional monarchy.

In other words it is nuanced and complex.

That said, Badger Catholic, I realize that the point of the above post was not to get into the politics of 1930s Spain, feel free to not post/delete, did not mean to go off track.

I totally agree Anon, that is an awkward bio - perhaps it makes for a more sensational flyer.
