Prayers Please

For those who do not know, Fr. Luke Strand has been diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.  Colon cancer is common in his family so praise God he has been being screened for awhile despite his young age and it looks like it was caught early.

Father Luke is the tireless and incredibly holy Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as well as a national speaker including for the upcoming Steubenville Young Adult Conference being held in Milwaukee next month.  He also offers spiritual guidance to a number of apostolates throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

He has been featured in a number of news stories of varying interest throughout the country and the world for some trouble caused by a unique mode of transportation, and for the incredible story of being one of three Strand brothers pursuing the priesthood (please keep praying for his broth Vincent who is in seminary for the Jesuits).

Below is from the Facebook thread going around requesting prayers for his healing.  Please note the request for intercession from Sts. John Paul II and Luke.

PLEASE PRAY! Fr. Luke has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer. It was found very early and Fr. Luke will begin all of the necessary treatments, so the prognosis is very hopeful that he will fully recover. He is asking for the intercession of Pope St. John Paul II and St. Luke. Please join us in praying for Fr. Luke's full and speedy return to good health!

"O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We humbly beseech You to behold, visit and relieve your servant Fr. Luke, for whom our prayers are desired. Look upon him with the eyes of Your mercy; comfort him with a sense of Your goodness; preserve him from the temptations of the enemy; and give him patience under his affliction. In Your good time, restore him to health; and grant that he may dwell with You in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
